Nails for Stacy Igel of Boy Meets Girl!

Eeeek, I am SO excited to finally let the cat out of the bag! Last week I had the absolute honor of doing nails for esteemed fashion designer/entrepreneur extraordinaire, Stacy Igel of Boy Meets Girl! She was getting ready to embark on a suuper busy NYFW and needed some fancy phalanges to accompany her along the way.  Check out Stacy’s full post on our nail date here.

Her first stop was the Caravan Stylist Studio cocktail party, so we wanted her nails to match her (super cute, black) dress. We opted for a silky gold base with itty bitty black bow-ties! And to sass things up, we added some black polka dots in rows of three on her ring fingers.
I felt like I could’ve talked to Stacy forever! But after just about 3 hours, we said shalom and parted ways. Stacy is such an inspiration to me and I only hope that theGLITTERY becomes a fraction as successful as Boy Meets Girl on day!

Nails for Cynthia Rowley SS15 NYFW!

I got my first taste of NYFW this week ands it was deliiiicious! I was so honored to be a part of the Color Club x Birchbox team doing nails at Cynthia Rowley’s SS15 show. The look was a classic nude- we were given 12 new Color Club shades to match to each model’s skin tone.  It was so much fun!

Special shout out to @Shellbeezy for the opportunity!

flower water decals!

Earlier today on Instagram,  I gave you guys a sneak peak at these super cute flower water decals from the Born Pretty Store. I am incredibly impressed at how easy and FAST they were to apply. And the best part? They don’t look like decals!

All you have to do is cut out the decal, soak it in warm water and place it on your nail. Next, blot your nail with a paper towel to soak up the access water. Wait a couple of minutes before sealing with your top coat and VOILA! you’re done! To make the flower’s stand out, I did 2 coats of Sally Hansen’s Miracle Gel in ‘Lemon Heaven’ as my base color. If you choose to do a base color, make sure the polish is 100% dry before applying the water decals.

We’re engaged!

Last Friday (7/11) was theeee best day of my life! My bestest friend proposed in the most beautiful, special, “us” way possible.

Along with the expected ‘MAZEL’, almost every person asked what my nails looked like. Good news is that I was OBSESSSSSED with them that day!

If you follow me on Instagram (@theGLITTERYblog), you know how smitten I am with Sally Hansen’s new Miracle Gel. So it was only fitting that I just happened to be wearing it on what ended up being the best day of my life!

My nails the morning-of, not knowing what was coming that night! I used Malibu Peach and Lemon Heaven to create the perfect ombre!

The 3 of us…Nick, me and baby Ellsie!

AMERICAN FLAG:

Supplies:
– OPI Nail Envy, base coat
– OPI, Alpine Snow
OPI, Can’t Find My Czechbook
– Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art Striper, red
– Toothpick

Step 1: after applying your base coat, paint 2 coats of OPI, Alpine Snow. Before moving to step 2, make sure your polish is 100% dry.

Step 2: take your Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art Striper in red and paint 4 vertical lines. Wait to dry.

Step 3: using your blue, paint a rectangle in the upper left corner of your nail. Wait to dry.

Step 4: take a toothpick dipped in your white polish and dab dots to create the “stars.” I use a piece of tinfoil or an old magazine as my palette! Wait a good 10-15 minutes before sealing with your top coat! If you apply too early, the red may bleed into your white and you’ll end up with a pinkish flag!

Okay, by now you know the drill. Tag @theGLITTERYblog on Instagram so I can see your look and hit that like button!

OMGel! Sally Hansen’s NEW Miracle Gel!

My hands are shaking with excitement, I can barely paint! This is HUUUUUGGEE news, guys! Remember the first time you tried a quick-dry top coat? Remember how LIFE CHANGING that was?!? Well, your life is about to be rocked again, or rather, a MIRACLE is about to happen…

This summer, Sally Hansen is launching Miracle Gel- a gel manicure with no light needed! I was lucky enough to get a sneak peak of the collection and am dyyying over the genuisness of the product (it’s my blog, I can make up any words I want…)

Check this out-

1. Again, there’s NO. LIGHT. NEEDED! (This part is so exciting, it’s worth repeating). Aka- it’s just like painting your nails regularly except you get the ADDED/ FREE bonus of it being a GEL MANICURE! Aka (again) long-lasting color AND shine- up to 14 days!

2. It’s only 2 steps–all you have to do is paint 2 coats of the color (it has a built-in base coat) then seal the deal with the gel top coat. THAT’S IT! Ready for a knowledge bomb? The top coat is in an opaque bottle- which is how you know it’s a REAL gel (just like the gel mani bottles you see at your salon). If it were in a transparent bottle, the light would make the gel harden, which obvi wouldn’t work when painting your nails… So on top of getting a bomb.com manicure at home, you get to feel super cool knowing you’re using REAL gel…all by yourself…at home!

3. It removes easily with regular nail polish remover. You don’t have to worry about scraping/damaging your nails!

4. It has an awesome brush that contours to your cuticle for even, streak-free application!

5. It comes in 47 tooooo die for shades, divided into 7 color families- LovePink, Flawlessly Nude, Street Pastels, Runway Shock, Daily Delights, Mad Mod & Fired Up Metallics. Something for everyone!

I grabbed a few to swatch for you –it was SO hard to choose!
